Welcome to the Aaliyah Wiki, a collaborative effort to preserve the legacy and influence of Aaliyah.
Aaliyah Dana Haughton was an American recording artist and actress. She became invested in both professions at an early age as she was featured in the play Annie during first grade and appeared on Star Search at age 10. Aaliyah signed to Blackground Records at age 12 and three years later released her debut album Age Ain't Nothing but a Number. Her follow-up, One in a Million, was released in 1996. In 2000, Aaliyah made her acting debut in Romeo Must Die. The following year, she released her self-titled third album, Aaliyah, in July 2001. She was killed along with eight others the following month in plane crash when returning to the United States from Abaco Island, The Bahamas after completing filming for the music video of the single "Rock the Boat".
