Monica Denise Brown, also known as Monica is an American singer, songwriter, actress and producer. She has cited Aaliyah as an influence. She performed as a child prior to releasing her debut album Miss Thang in 1995. Her second album, The Boy Is Mine was released three years later. The Boy Is Mine earned her major international chart success. The title track featured Brandy Norwood and won a Grammy Award.
