Solange Knowles is an American singer and actress. She released her debut album Solo Star in 2003. The following year, she married Daniel Smith at the age of 17 and within months gave birth to their son Daniel Julez J. Smith Jr., an event which prompted a move to Idaho. Over the next few years from 2005 to 2007, she had several minor roles. During this time she continued writing music for her sister Beyoncé and her former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. In 2008, she released her second album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams.

Knowles' sister Beyoncé was a member of the group Destiny's Child while Solange was in school. She recalled a male student messing with her and having her elder sister come up to impress him.

She and her son Daniel moved to Louisiana in late 2013.
Knowles married Alan Ferguson on November 16, 2014. The wedding was attended by her sister and Jay-Z. She and her son Julez had a choreographed performance of "No Flex Zone", which had been released months earlier.
Relation to Aaliyah Edit
Solange has spoken of Aaliyah's influence on her. She was at one point rumored to be playing Aaliyah in a potential biopic, before a Lifetime film on her life was released in 2014. On the tenth-anniversary of Aaliyah's death, August 25, 2011, Solange proclaimed that she would never be forgotten.
