Tupac Shakur (June 16, 1971 - September 13, 1996) was an American rapper and actor. Shakur was raised by a single mother and had many family members that were members of the Black Panther Party.

Shakur was shot five times on November 30, 1994 in a robbery. He would come to believe that the robbery was a set-up and also accused Sean Combs and The Notorious B.I.G. for the shooting. He and The Notorious B.I.G. had become friends shortly before the shooting following the release of the latter's debut album earlier that year.

Shakur served a prison sentence from February 1995 to November 1995 at the Clinton Correctional Facility.

Shakur was shot multiple times on the night of September 7, 1996. He was in critical condition in a hospital for six days and died on September 13.

Relation to Aaliyah Edit

Aaliyah commented on his death. She would later say she liked his song "California Love". Her best friend Kidada Jones was engaged to Shakur at the time of his death. Worth noting is that Shakur died nearly five years before Aaliyah and the two were stated to have been friends for five years before Aaliyah's death, placing the time Aaliyah and Kidada became friends close to the time Shakur died.
